Why did He have to die?

Why did Jesus have to die for our sins? Because…“Man has fallen. We are all dead in sin. We cannot save ourselves. We cannot pay the debt we owe to God. We need someone to save us, someone has to pay for our sin. No man can, because sin requires the death penalty [we can’t pay for our own sins because we are all sinners] but God sent His Son [only], who lived a sinless life so He could die for us, bearing the penalty He didn't owe. God requires that we repent and trust in the [only] One [Jesus] who can save us.”

A Plea for Sinners

Oh, my brothers and sisters in Christ, if sinners will be damned, at least let them leap to hell over our bodies; and if they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees, imploring them to stay…and not to destroy themselves. If hell must be filled, at least let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go there unwarned and unprayed for.

- Charles Spurgeon
